Wash Day: A Care and Style Guide for Little Curls
$9.99 – $24.99
The picture book that makes my 3 year old want to wash her hair.
WASH DAY was written for my 3 year old daughter who hates to wash her hair. While most books on this subject use storytelling to illustrate how great washing your hair can be, this work centres on the practical steps and turns hair washing into an interactive experience. Combining rhyming and vibrantly illustrated steps, it teaches little ones (and their caretakers) why we need to wash our hair and how to do it. Flipping through these pages, readers will learn how to shampoo, conditioner, detangle and choose a simple hairstyle that can be achieved without any special skills.

Why I wrote this book
I have an amazing kid with gorgeous curly hair but she HATES washing it. I literally chase her around the house to get it done. She was fine as a baby but once she hit 2 and could walk and talk it was just NO no no - cue running. Like any parent, I started looking for a book that would help make this easier - I wanted to teach her the process so that when she says “no I want to do it by myself” she can do it with mild to moderate competence. I scoured the internet and the library. While they’re books about loving your hair and your curls, and a few stories about a character who got their hair washed - I couldn't find an age appropriate book that actually teaches the steps, so I wrote one.
What makes this book unique is that it is a visual instruction on washing and styling the hair, teaching a life-long skill at the earliest of age. The love of one's hair comes from knowing how to care of it and seeing all that it can do.

What a beautifully made book with a wealth of visual details, tips and well done illustrations. In a world that often doesn’t understand the needs of black hair and how to care for it, this book teaches children what it means. Also black hair care is just as important to know to non-black parents. Its a story made with intention and I really encourage you to purchase this book.

Overall a high quality book that is necessary and much-needed for the black community.

Oh how I wish this wonderful care and style guide existed when my children were little! It is beautifully written and illustrated and is a must have for all parents and caretakers. Making “wash day” fun and easy will build self-esteem and confidence in our kids. I plan to gift Wash Day to the all little ones in my extended family. Kudos to the author and illustrator!

Wash Day makes your childhood memories come to life! The vibrant colors and details on each page allow for a fun experience while managing what can sometimes be an overwhelming task! I don’t have a daughter, but I read this book to my son who always wants to learn what comes next! Wash Day instills confidence in children that they can achieve it all! We also really enjoy the coloring & activity book as a fun learning tool!

What a great book for children and resource for parents! My daughter has loved experimenting with the different styles in this book and both of my children have loved reading the story. I only wish I’d had this book when my oldest was a toddler.
